In Public Belief in Evolution, US Lags Behind

MoveOn.org released a shocking and disconcerting chart today that plots 34 countries in order of their public acceptance of the theory of evolution. The United States placed a disappointing 33rd out of 34, with 40% of the public believing in evolution, 40% not rejecting the theory, and 20% not sure. The chart included most of the European countries that the average person could name offhand, and the only country that came behind the U.S. was Turkey. In Iceland, the country that placed first, no less than 80% of the public believes in evolution. See the chart here.
