Several Democratic Senators have recently introduced a constitutional amendment that would overturn the hotly contested Citizens United decision handed down in 2010. The amendment would put control of anonymous campaign advertising funds (which is currently unlimited) back into the hands of regulators in Congress. While the amendment does not impose specific regulations itself, it allows space for Congress to place limitations on campaign spending, without having to face a constitutional challenge each time.
