Under oath, former Florida Republican Party chairman Jim Greer testified that he was, during a December ’09 meeting with GOP officials:
…upset because the political consultants and staff were talking about voter suppression and keeping blacks from voting.
This testimony is especially pertinent given recent revelations, produced by Politico, that at least 5 million voters, mostly young and from minority groups, may be adversely affected by Republican-orchestrated voter ID laws. More stringent laws have just been enacted by New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin, key states that could swing the election. Importantly, the grassroots organization Color of Change is doing everything in their power to push back against ALEC, the monolithic, right-wing, corporate-funded front group spearheading this discriminatory voting legislation.
