Debate season is nearing! Less than two months stand between today and the first of three televised presidential debates between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. And this morning, the Commission on Presidential Debates released its official moderator selections.
October 3 in Denver, CO: Jim Lehrer, PBS
October 16 in Hempstead, NY: Candy Crowley, CNN
October 22 in Boca Raton, FL: Bob Schieffer, CBS
The sole vice presidential debate is less than two months away as well. It will be held on October 11 in Danville, KY. Martha Raddatz, ABC’s former Senior White House Correspondent and current foreign affairs correspondent, will moderate.
This will be Lehrer’s 12th time in the White House moderator seat, more than any other journalist. Schieffer has hosted two debates prior to this year’s election. And Crowley’s role marks the first time in roughly 20 years that a woman has hosted a presidential faceoff. Neither her, nor Raddatz, have ever moderated such debates.
