Joe Biden is like everybody’s drunk uncle. Sit on his lap, and he’ll tell you never-ending stories and vulgar jokes a-plenty. Speaking to North Carolina voters this morning, he was true to form, making yet another polarizing gaffe. Let the right-wing backlash begin.
They’ve said it. Every Republican’s voted for it. Look at what they value, and look at their budget. And look what they’re proposing. [Romney] said in the first hundred days, he’s going to let the big banks write their own rules — unchain Wall Street. They’re going to put y’all back in chains.
The conservative media has already jumped on the remark, insisting that Biden was referring to slavery. But the speech was given at the Institute for Advanced Learning. The institute is not an African-American venue, where such a comment would have surely had the most gut-wrenching effect. So, chances are, this was an accident. Sorry, Rush (not that you should talk).
