In hopes of squelching any griping or groaning, Mitt decided to let loose his 2011 tax returns on Friday, effectively a news black hole, but controversy was re-ignited after Romney’s appearance on 60 Minutes yesterday. CBS’ Scott Pelley asked Romney straightforwardly whether it’s fair that a “guy who makes $50,000″ pays a higher tax rate than the Republican presidential candidate, who paid an effective rate of 14.1 percent for 2011.
